Caterpillar Inc. seeks Senior Software Engineer at its facility located at 540 W Madison Street, #1400, Chicago, IL 60661.
Perform all programming, project management, and development assignments without close supervision; normally assigned the more complex aspects of systems work. Work directly on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution. Work independently on complex systems or infrastructure components that may be used by one or more applications or systems. Drive application development focused around delivering business valuable features. Mentor and assist software engineers, providing technical assistance and direction as needed. Maintain high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits. Identify and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team. Guide the team to develop structured application/interface code, new program documentation, operations documentation, and user guides in a casual, flexible environment. Communicate with end users and internal customers to help direct development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness. Perform integration testing and customer acceptance testing of components that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results. Telecommuting permitted 3 days/week.
REQS: This position requires a bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Information Sciences, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field and 7 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupation. Alternatively, employer will also accept, a master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Information Sciences, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field and 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupation.
Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) 5 years of experience designing and developing software applications in Java or Scala; (2) 3 years of experience developing micro-services and experience deploying software using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GoCD, Concourse; (3) 3 years of experience deploying and maintaining software using public clouds such as AWS, Azure, or Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF); (4) 4 years of experience working within an Agile or XP framework; (5) 3 years of experience working with Test Driven Development (TDD), Spring Framework, and Spring boot; (6) 2 years of experience working with Gem fire; (7) React and Redux and Redis; and (8) Developing software applications using Database technologies, such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
Summary Pay Range:
$148,949-$179,640
Compensation and benefits may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market, location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
