Job Summary:
Are you looking for an impactful role to develop digital tools infused with traditional and generative AI to enable transformational outcomes for Caterpillar customers? We have a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and visionary Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Cat Foresight engineering team, as a part of the Cat Digital Application Engineering organization.
This position is perfect for a leader with a deep engineering expertise, polished executive presence, the ability to influence across all levels of the organization, and a passion for building high performance teams. You will shape technical strategy, mentor talent, and collaborate with senior leadership to deliver Cat Foresight's expanded capabilities to support our customers through Contract Management, Repair and Rebuild planning, and Condition Monitoring to increase uptime.
What You Will Do:

  • Delivery Excellence: Oversee team software development activities, ensuring cyber safe, high quality, timely delivery of features leveraging traditional ML and analytic models, as well as Gen AI capabilities, that delight our users, and deliver business outcomes
  • Team Empowerment: Foster a culture of ownership, innovation and continuous growth, actively using AI in day-to-day work; Attract, mentor, and retain leaders and individual team members; Lead geographically dispersed development teams
  • Cross Functional Influence: Partner with Product, Analytics, Platform and Operations, to balance technical capabilities with business priorities
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present progress, challenges and opportunities, to senior leadership and partners with clarity and confidence.
  • Provides technical support, and direction to teams and team leaders. Acquires resources necessary to accomplish work on time.
  • Oversees performance of individual team members and team as a whole. Identifies and addresses staff training and development needs.
  • Coordinates walkthroughs and reviews; ensures conformance to standards and adherence to design specifications.
  • Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports. Monitors and troubleshoots performance and schedule issues.


What You Will Have:
Software Development: Knowledge of software development tools and activities; ability to produce software products or systems in line with product requirements.
Software Development Life Cycle: Knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace.
Software Integration Engineering: Knowledge of software integration processes and functions; ability to design, develop and maintain interfaces and linkage to alternative platforms and software packages.
Software Product Design/Architecture: Knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into the software product design.
Software Quality Assurance and Testing: Knowledge of software quality assurance and testing; ability to apply appropriate processes, tools, and techniques for assuring a high level of quality in computer software products and systems.
IT Service Management (ITSM): Knowledge of Information Technology (IT) service; ability to manage IT services and oversee service operations.
Considerations For Top Candidates:

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in computer science, or engineering, or related field Or equivalent working experience
  • 8+ years of experience in Software Engineering, with proven experience delivering and maintaining performant and complex enterprise scale applications, in languages including but not limited to Java, Typescript, Javascript, or Python
  • 2+ years experience designing, building, scaling and maintaining cloud systems
  • Experience in testing, production system monitoring, and observability

Benefits:
This position is eligible for stock or other equity grants pursuant to Caterpillar's long-term incentive plan.
Summary Pay Range:
$169,320.00 - $253,920.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
