Where and How You Can Work
Ravenswood is the home to our headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. We take pride in having a friendly, open office life that is relaxed and honest. As a flexible-first organization, this role requires the VP, Product to be onsite at the office or meeting with clients two-three days a week. Remote consideration is possible for the right candidate.
POSITION OVERVIEW
As VP of Product, you will be a key member of our executive leadership team, responsible for setting and executing our product vision and strategy. You'll lead a talented team of product managers, work closely with engineering, design, sales, services, and customer success teams, and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our company. This role requires a unique blend of business acumen, technical understanding, legal industry knowledge, and leadership skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership

  • Define and communicate a compelling product vision that aligns with company goals and market needs
  • Develop a comprehensive product strategy and roadmap for our legal technology solutions
  • Identify new product opportunities and prioritize initiatives based on market research, customer feedback, and business objectives
  • Partner with the executive team to shape company strategy and ensure product alignment
  • Stay ahead of legal technology trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities


Product Management Leadership

  • Build upon, mentor, and lead a high-performing product management team
  • Establish effective product management processes, metrics, and best practices
  • Drive product planning, prioritization, and execution across the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM)
  • Oversee product lifecycle from concept to launch, including feature prioritization and release management
  • Balance short-term tactical needs with long-term strategic vision.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Engineering and Technical Project Managers to ensure successful product development and on-time delivery
  • Partner closely with the Data team and Nextpoint Law Group, which operate as services organizations, to integrate their expertise and align the product strategy with client deliverables
  • Align with Sales and Marketing to develop effective go-to-market strategies
  • Collaborate with Client Success and Solutions Architects to gather feedback from internal teams and clients, shaping the product to enhance the client experience
  • Serve as a product evangelist both internally and externally
  • Represent the voice of the customer throughout the organization


Customer and Market Focused

  • Develop deep understanding of legal professionals' changing workflows, pain points, and needs
  • Establish strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders in the legal industry
  • Translate complex legal requirements into elegant product solutions
  • Drive user research and incorporate findings into product decisions
  • Monitor product metrics and KPIs to measure success and inform future decisions


Innovative Leadership

  • Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies like AI, machine learning, and automation in the legal space
  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the product organization
  • Balance innovation with practical execution to deliver value to customers
  • Lead the evaluation and integration of relevant technologies through build/buy/partner decisions
  • Guide the evolution of product architecture to support future growth and capabilities


QUALIFICATIONS
Required Experience and Skills

  • 10+ years of product management experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles
  • Proven track record building and scaling successful B2B SaaS products
  • Experience leading and growing high-performing product teams
  • Strong understanding of software development practices and technologies
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or exposure to legal technology, or related industries
  • Knowledge of legal workflows, document management, and legal operations
  • Experience with AI/ML products and technologies
  • Background working with customers of all shapes and sizes, from SMB to enterprise
  • Prior experience in a fast-growing technology company
  • Product management certification
