Who We Want

Arrive Logistics has created a new Director of Risk position to combat the increase in fraud and strategic cargo theft in the freight industry. The Director of Risk will be responsible for advising on and implementing best practices for carrier fraud and theft prevention, appropriate countermeasures, stolen cargo recovery, and the handling of high risk high value (HVHR) commodities shipments. The Director of Risk will have an extensive background in supply chain security, be meticulously detail oriented, have managerial and supervisory skills, and have the ability to work independently and embrace the challenges of a hyper-growth and fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Report directly to the General Counsel of Arrive
  • Supervise at least one other team member
  • Establish best practices for identifying and stopping fraudulent motor carriers, strategic theft and other bad actors from accessing Arrive’s systems, targeting loads, booking loads and gaining control over cargo, and proactively monitoring Arrive’s systems to prevent and counteract the above
  • Establish best practices for stolen freight and hostage freight recovery and work with Arrive’s insurance SIG recovery team, law enforcement and other stakeholders to recover stolen or hostage freight
  • Establish and expand a network to share information and stay updated on the latest fraud and theft prevention trends and tools; travel to attend relevant conferences on a regular basis
  • Review, update, and oversee Arrive’s HVHR program, including carrier vetting, permissible and impermissible HVHR commodities, insurance requirements and security best practices
  • Review, update and oversee Arrive’s policies for hauling Hazmat loads
  • Research, test, and advise on current and emerging technologies relating to the prevention of fraud and strategic cargo theft

Qualifications

  • B.A. or equivalent degree from a recognized educational institution
  • 3+ years experience as in supply chain risk management
  • 1+ years managerial experience
  • Law enforcement background or strong connections with the law enforcement community preferred
  • Experience with freight brokerage
  • Strong freight and transportation industry fundamentals and knowledge of supply chain security best practices
  • Strong moral and ethical compass
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of management as well as external partners
  • Ability to work well on a team as well as on your own with little supervision
  • Ability to supervise and mentor others 
  • Ability to speak/write clearly, concisely, and articulately, and present to a varied audience
  • Ability to prioritize work and handle numerous tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to make independent decisions, assume responsibility and exercise good judgment
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with like-minded individuals across the industry
