Experienced Professional needed in RSM's growing Washington National Tax (WNT) office. Join the leading provider of accounting, tax and business consulting services to the middle market.  At RSM, you will work with dynamic companies and entrepreneurs. RSM is the premier accounting, tax and business consulting firm serving middle market companies in the U.S. and globally with over 90 offices in North America. The WNT office consults with the broad spectrum of RSM’s tax clients on a full range of tax technical areas. 

We are currently seeking candidates to help lead the energy and excise team.  Background in serving renewable energy industry clients is highly desirable. Experience and expertise in one or more areas from the list below is required, as well as interest and ability to quickly get up to speed in the full range of excise tax and clean energy credits and incentives in the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022:

  • Investment tax credit (ITC)
  • Production tax credit (PTC)
  • Carbon capture and sequestration credit
  • Electric vehicles and refueling property credits
  • Renewable fuel credits
  • ESG Tax and sustainability
  • Federal excise tax (fuel, heavy vehicles, air transportation, manufacturers taxes, environmental taxes, etc.)
  • Accounting methods

Responsibilities

Senior Managers in our Washington National Tax practice have the following responsibilities with respect to their specific areas of subject matter expertise:

  • Consulting with clients and client engagement teams, including leading IRS and state examination defense for subject matter issues
  • Providing technical, process and strategic leadership for specialty practice teams in the field
  • Generating thought leadership through tax alerts, articles and other content
  • Liaising with Treasury, IRS and Congress, with a focus on monitoring developments
  • Leading internal knowledge sharing, including the development and delivery of training
  • Developing client service offerings, service ideas, tools and best practices
  • Ensuring a focus on tax quality and client service excellence

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience focusing on energy and/or excise tax in the national office of a large firm, a national tax credits and incentives practice of a large firm, IRS National Office, law firm, or industry
  • BS/BA degree in accounting
  • CPA or JD

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters in Taxation or LLM (Taxation)

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $137,700 - $276,700

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
