This is a hybrid role based in our Chicago or Bay Area offices (San Francisco or Palo Alto) and will require you to be in the office Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Grindr team continues to innovate as the largest social media app for the LGBTQ community. 

What’s the job?

  • Build, maintain, and enhance consumer-facing iOS applications using Swift and RxSwift, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across time zones to design and implement new features, continually improving the user experience.
  • Drive technical decisions and lead the adoption of new technologies and architectures to keep the Grindr app modern, scalable, and high-performing.
  • Optimize application performance and maintain clean, structured code using best practices in design patterns such as MVVM, modular architecture, and one-way data flow.
  • Mentor engineers, fostering technical growth, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, and helping the team adopt new tools and methodologies.
  • Shape the future of Grindr’s app by working on key projects like Hookups (Feed & Map), customer-centric algorithm improvements (e.g., SuperBoost and Teleport), and app modernization with SwiftUI and reactive functional programming.
  • Use tools such as Bitrise, Fastlane, Jenkins, and GitHub to evolve and maintain Grindr’s software architecture for current and future needs while supporting the product roadmap.

What we'll love about you 

  • 6+ years of experience developing complex, scalable iOS applications.
  • Proven track record as a technical leader, inspiring creativity, driving innovation, and fostering a collaborative team culture.
  • Strong experience in product leadership and technical decision-making, with the ability to balance tradeoffs between product requirements and technical constraints.
  • Expertise in mobile architecture at scale, with exposure to multiple tech stacks beyond mobile.
  • Deep understanding of software engineering best practices and design patterns, including MVVM, Coordinator, modular architecture, and performance optimization techniques.
  • A hands-on approach, with a passion for mentoring and guiding team members while actively contributing to code and technical solutions.

We'll really swoon if you have 

  • Hands-on experience with RxSwift or other functional reactive programming frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Coordinators and experience working with RxFlow for managing complex navigation flows.

This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, location, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role will also be eligible for equity, benefits, and a company bonus program.
