Role Description:

Oak Street Health is looking for a senior data scientist to join our data science team. Our core mission is to augment our operational and care team workflows with clinical data insight tools to connect the right patients with the right services. We realize that mission through the application of both simple and cutting-edge clinical tools, including advanced AI. You will play a key role in delivering on that mission by serving as a leader developing and deploying clinical AI, inclusive of the entire data science and machine learning development lifecycle.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the full data science lifecycle in healthcare projects from feature engineering, to experimentation, to post-deployment monitoring and improvement, employing the full range of relevant modalities from conventional ML to LLM agents.

  • Collaborate directly with medical professionals and business leaders to translate real-world gaps into data-driven solutions drawing from an immense bank of interoperable health data.

  • Communicate findings, performance, and projected impacts of tools to teams of diverse stakeholders with varying degrees of technical or medical proficiency.

  • Serve as a thought leader in partnership with clinical and business leaders to not only share results but to proactively guide the product development.

  • Stay abreast of developments in the field to continuously improve the techniques employed in the role.

  • Conduct advanced real-world experiments to answer pressing questions of how patients engage with their health.

What are we looking for

  • A graduate degree in a related field of mathematics, biostatistics, computer science, or engineering with 5+ or 3+ years working experience with a master's degree or PhD, respectively.

  • Advanced proficiency in foundations of data science and machine learning.

  • Applied experience leveraging both conventional ML and emerging NLP tools in a healthcare or healthcare adjacent setting.

  • Expertise in HIE data and/or medical claims, extensive experience with clinical note data is a plus.

  • Strong command of Python/R and SQL.

  • Experience conducting natural experiments and observational studies of health outcomes and interpreting results with standard statistical techniques.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Skilled communicator able to connect data with insight to stakeholder groups.

  • Familiarity with best practices in model productionalization and deployment is a plus.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$83,430.00 - $222,480.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
