Software Engineering Intern

Summary:  

The Life Fitness Internship Program 2025 is now accepting applicants in their junior and senior year. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as summer interns. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Software Engineering and develop valuable skills and contribute to Life Fitness' mission and goals. 

Successful applicants will be assigned meaningful and challenging work suitable for their background. The program advisor(s) and mentors will meet with you regularly to identify and develop your summer objectives. All positions are PAID and based in the Chicagoland area. The Internship Program will run for 11-weeks.  

Responsibilities: 

• Actively contribute and have an impact in a business-critical project. 

• Perform day-to-day duties and responsibilities in related field or business function. 

• Collaborate with fellow interns on an 11-week-long group case study and present the results to senior leaders, stakeholders, and managers.  

• Attend and participate in team meetings. 

• Develop and execute test plans: Understand requirements, create detailed plans and test cases to test software and embedded applications. 

• Execute and track test results: Execute the test cases, document the results of testing, and communicate the test results to the stakeholders. 

• Debugging and troubleshooting: Identify issues and find ways to consistently troubleshoot and reproduce the issues and document them in tools like JIRA. 

• Automate tests: Develop automated test scripts using selenium or Java or Python for web and mobile applications. 

• Collaborate with teams: Work with developers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality software delivery. 

• Maintain test environments: Set up and manage environments for testing purposes. 

Requirements: 

• Currently enrolled in full-time bachelor’s degree program, graduating in 2026 or 2027. 

• Strong academic standing preferred, minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. 

• Initiative, positive attitude and eagerness to learn. 

• Excellent organizational skills 

• Professional written and verbal communication skills. 

• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.  

• Ability to adapt well to different situations and thrive in a challenging, fast-paced environment.  

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.   

• Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

At Life Fitness / Hammer Strength, we believe in taking care of our team with a comprehensive total rewards package that includes competitive pay and a range of valuable benefits. The base wage range for this position, intended for U.S. applicants, is $19.00 - $24.00 per hour and includes eligibility for overtime. The actual base pay will vary based on applicant’s education, experience, skills, and abilities. The range reflected is based on a primary work location of Rosemont, IL and the actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.  

Life Fitness / Hammer Strength offers a valuable and enriching experience for our interns. Depending on the duration and timing of the internship, interns may be entitled to paid holidays during their assignment. Additionally, interns are eligible for paid sick leave in accordance with state and local paid sick leave laws. Eligibility for benefits is governed by the applicable plan documents and policies.
