ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a Senior IT Systems Engineer at our company, you will be an integral part of the IT department, tasked with designing, implementing, and maintaining the IT infrastructure that supports our organization’s goals. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of both hardware and software systems, as well as a good understanding of network management and data architecture. Your expertise will help to optimize infrastructure performance, ensure system security, and provide solutions that align with business needs. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires advanced technical skills, strategic thinking, and a proactive approach. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • System Design and Analysis: Develop and enhance system designs that align with the organization's business needs. Analyze system logs and identify potential issues with IT systems. 

  • Implementation and Maintenance: Lead the implementation of new systems technologies and manage upgrades to existing systems. Oversee the maintenance of IT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance. 

  • Troubleshooting and Support: Provide high-level support across the organization. Troubleshoot complex issues that arise in everyday operations, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining business continuity. 

  • Security and Compliance: Implement and manage security solutions to protect systems from cyber threats. Ensure infrastructure complies with all applicable regulations and standards. 

  • Project Management and Collaboration: Act as the senior technical lead on projects, interfacing with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure project goals are met on time and on budget. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and other team members. 

  • Documentation: Create detailed documentation for system deployments, changes, and upgrades; maintain operational, configuration, and other procedural documentation as required. 

  • Capacity Planning: Conduct capacity planning and provide solutions for performance enhancement and scalability. 

  • Vendor Management: Coordinate with third-party vendors and suppliers to ensure that services meet the specified contracts and are delivered effectively. 

 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field. 

  • 5 years of experience in systems engineering or in a similar role. 

  • Proven track record in IT infrastructure and systems analysis. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC), or similar. 

  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform). 

  • Prior experience in managing large-scale migrations to cloud environments. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Technical Expertise: Experience deploying, managing, and supporting all versions of Microsoft server operating systems. 
    Server and SAN hardware management experience -  Preferably Dell PowerEdge servers and Pure SANs. 
    5+ years of VMware management experience 
    5+ years of VMware Site Recovery Management experience 
    5+ years of SAN management experience. 
    Experience deploying, managing, and supporting Microsoft Failover clusters 
    Experience writing and maintaining PowerShell scripts 
     

  • Networking Skills: Deep understanding of network hardware, protocols, and security; knowledge in TCP/IP, VPNs, switching, and routing.   

  • Experience supporting fiber channel connected server and storage infrastructure. 
    Experience with TCP\IP networking troubleshooting 

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think quickly and strategically. 

  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders. 

  • Leadership and Mentorship: Experience leading projects and mentoring team members as well as the ability to work individually. 

  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to new technologies and rapidly integrate them into existing company.

  • This job operates in an environment with loud machinery and heavy equipment on occasion. 

  • This job operates Hybrid 

  • This job may require up to 10% travel. 

  • Expected to respond to alerts and outages and participate in periodic 24x7 on-call schedule 

  • Ability to work flexible shifts and days of the week including weekends and holidays as needed

Salary Range

$108,800-$136,000

The annual base salary range for this position is noted above. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and office location.
