Our AI ML Applied Field Engineering (AFE) organization is seeking  a Senior Manager to lead a highly skilled pre-sales team focusing on driving Snowflake's AI ML adoption across North America. In this role you will be managing a team of exceptional AFEs who partner with our Product sales team to understand the needs of our customers, strategize on how to navigate sales cycles, and provide value-based evaluation scenarios including demonstrations, labs, POCs, and pilots to win business. As a Senior Manager, you will provide leadership in working with both technical and business executives in the design and architecture of the Snowflake Platform as a critical component of their enterprise data architecture and overall ML ecosystem.

This is a customer facing role and you’ll get to directly work with the most cutting-edge strategic customers across North America. In this role you will work with leaders across sales teams, product management, and technology partners to leverage best practices and reference architectures highlighting Snowflake as a core technology enabling platform for the emerging Data Science workload throughout an organization.

Reporting to the Head of AI ML AFEs, you will play a hands-on role in building and managing a team of AFEs and owning the revenue and consumption responsibilities for the group. 

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

  • Build and lead a team of AFEs who serve as our core product introduction, evaluation and education experts 

  • Coordinate cross functional dotted line resources to achieve your team goals

  • Partner with sales leadership to achieve regional quota and consumption targets and ensure customer success

  • Provide guidance to revenue leaders on sales strategy, product obstacles/gaps and represent the team’s needs to executive staff

  • Interpret complex problems, create simple solutions and collaborate closely with prospects, channel partners and our sales team to deliver winning solutions 

  • Partner with Product Marketing teams to  spread awareness and support pipeline building via customer roundtables, conferences, events, blogs, webinars, and whitepapers

  • Collaborate and maintain a close working relationship with product, engineering, sales, marketing and services 

  • Play an active role in sourcing and screening potential candidates and managing the entire interview process 

  • Serve as an inspiring player/coach, mentoring team members to develop their professional skills while leading by example in customer presentations and strategic initiatives

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and growth by providing regular coaching, feedback, and career development opportunities that help team members reach their full potential

  • Build and nurture a high-performing team through hands-on leadership, professional development planning, and creating pathways for career advancement while delivering exceptional results to customers and prospects

  • Innovate and implement strategies that will uplevel your teams skills 

ON DAY ONE, WE EXPECT YOU TO HAVE:

  • 10+ years of experience in a pre-sales capacity, including 5+ years in a leadership role managing and mentoring high-performing teams (hiring, training, and retaining top talent)

  • Strong domain expertise in areas such as Data Science and Machine learning, Data Warehousing, Cloud Computing, and SaaS Solutions

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to deliver compelling presentations to both technical and executive stakeholders — whether on a whiteboard, through live demos, or formal presentations

  • Consultative sales approach: Ability to understand complex business challenges and map them to Snowflake’s cloud data platform and solutions

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience

  • Strong strategic thinking, with a deep understanding of enterprise sales cycles and the ability to manage complex deals from initial discovery to close
