THE ROLE

The Risk Management Advisor is a role focused on providing risk management services and consultation to farmers with a focus on utilizing futures and options. The RMA is expected to be involved in lead generation and sales as well as servicing existing customers. The RMA must maintain a solid relationship through exceptional service and advice. Customer education and development will be a strong focus. A risk management background with an advanced grasp of grain marketing and/or markets is a must. 

 

THE DUTIES

  • Follow FBN directives regarding market research and risk profiles to steer farmer customers to appropriate risk positions both in their brokerage accounts and for their farm as a whole.
  • Provide advice, service and execution services to customers assigned to the RMA for the Market Advisory Pro risk management service. 
  • Execute brokerage obligations with speed, professionalism and above all accuracy, following all relevant compliance obligations.
  • Grow FBN’s Market Advisory and Brokerage businesses through outbound solicitation.
  • Deploy to the field on an as-needed basis from time to time
  • Provide relationship management to all customers, working to further engagement of the farmer within the broader FBN framework.
  • Become an internal expert on our proprietary risk management technology

QUALIFICATIONS

We're looking for confident, motivated, competitive, and innovative individuals with a strong work ethic and an appetite for big rewards. Desired characteristics/qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in a grain marketing role such as grain trading, merchandising, origination, or brokerage
  • Possess or ability to obtain the Series 3 licensure (the National Commodities Futures Examination administered by FINRA)
  • Fluency in futures, options, hedging, and risk management concepts and offerings
  • Graduate with an Agronomy, Sales, Marketing, Business, and Economics-related bachelor’s degree
  • Proven ability to excel in a self-guided work environment
  • Passionate about agriculture and farming; a desire to put the farmer first
  • Comfortable using and explaining technology products/services
  • A willingness to work in a fast-paced, competitive environment where sales achievement will be directly rewarded
  • Willingness to travel 10%+ of time

The following represents FBN's reasonable estimate of the US national average base salary range for this role based on market data and placement of internal employees: $94,000-$115,000. This salary range may vary based on geography and the higher cost of labor in some metropolitan areas. 

 

Beyond Base Pay, FBN also offers all full-time/permanent employees competitive total compensation packages that include equity compensation (dependent upon job level), incentive/bonus plans (dependent upon position), paid holidays plus an additional floating holiday, work flexibility including paid time off and remote work if your role is eligible, parental leave, benefits including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, short & long term disability, life insurance, 401k, HSA employer contributions, and more.
