IPG is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Billing Specialist to support premium billing and reconciliation for our employer group insurance programs. This role requires deep expertise in payroll-deducted insurance billing, including interpreting customized data files, conducting thorough audits, and proactively resolving discrepancies in partnership with employers and vendors. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about driving billing accuracy and operational efficiency.

Job Location: Remote – USA

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full billing lifecycle for employer group accounts, including generation, customization, and distribution of premium billing statements based on detailed payroll data.

  • Reconcile received payments against payroll files, investigating and resolving variances caused by partial payments, hourly wage fluctuations, employee leaves, credits, terminations, or new enrollments.

  • Conduct deep-dive account audits to identify discrepancies, determine root causes, and proactively drive resolution through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Partner closely with employer groups, benefits administrators, internal finance and operations teams, and third-party vendors to ensure accuracy and timely collections.

  • Maintain detailed billing records and account histories, providing clear, auditable documentation and reporting.

  • Act as a subject matter expert in client meetings, clearly explaining billing methodologies, remittance processes, and account-specific rules.

  • Monitor performance of system integrations with payroll and benefits platforms; participate in testing and deployment of system enhancements and updates.

  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy, reduce errors, and streamline workflows.

  • Provide responsive and professional support for nuanced billing inquiries and escalated issues.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure coverage and consistency across billing functions.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in insurance billing, payroll-deducted premium administration, or a related role within employee benefits or financial services.

  • Strong understanding of group benefits administration, insurance operations, and payroll data processing.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex reconciliations and financial audits with accuracy and precision.

  • Advanced Excel proficiency, including functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and large dataset manipulation; experience with database/reporting tools preferred.

  • Proven experience in client and vendor relationship management in a high-accountability, deadline-driven environment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate billing issues and processes to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Comfortable working across multiple platforms and systems; familiarity with benefits administration software is a plus.
