The Billing Manager provides leadership and oversight of the Firm’s billing function for their respective line of business focus area(s).  The position is responsible for ensuring the most effective and efficient policies, procedures, and systems are in place to facilitate timely and accurate billing and invoice processing and ensuring the firm meets billing goals.  This position assists their billing team members in resolving complex billing issues and trains billing team and external client servers on the billing system, process, procedures, and Firm billing best practices. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational and leadership skills, along with a keen eye for detail to drive operational excellence.

Essential Duties

Manage the monthly and annual billing process for respective line of business focus area(s) ensuring billing goals are achieved. 

  • Responsible for coordinating and organizing schedules, processes, and procedures for the timely billing of the firm’s services.
  • Develop and implement strategies and best practices to streamline billing workflows and improve accuracy.
  • Meet with key stakeholders, ensuring compliance to standard billing practices, resolving complex billing issues/questions, and education of primary billers, functional leads and operational leaders for respective focus area. 
  • Understand and be able to articulate the impact/effects of all financial concepts related to billing as well as impact to the firms standardized reporting. 
  • Analyze billing reports and data to identify discrepancies, resolving issues promptly and effectively.
  • Independently investigate complex billing issues and billing adjustments to ensure revenue impact accuracy.  
  • Address client billing inquiries and resolve disputes, delivering exceptional service and fostering positive relationships.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on billing performance, financial outcomes, and areas for process improvement.
  • In collaboration with the Billing Director, cultivate seamless and highly effective working relationships, interoperability, and lines of communication with the Firm’s Primary Billers and Functional Leads, applicable line of business leaders, cross functional stakeholders, and finance peers. 

Managerial duties include connecting with team members regularly, driving performance and ongoing development of skills.  Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ongoing performance management (goal setting, feedback, performance assessment)
  • Skills development (experience, exposure, education) - Supports employees with the development of knowledge, skills, and abilities by working to help gain exposure through on-the-job experiences, alignment of work, learning opportunities and connectivity to others.
  • Utilization/productivity – works with employee to monitor personal metrics, help align to LOB and firm expectations and monitors for issues or gaps.
  • Long-term career coaching and development

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a focus in finance operations, accounting or equivalent experience - Required  

Experience

  • 5-8 years relevant experience – Required
  • Professional service industry experience – Required
  • Previous project or team management experience – Required

Technical Skills

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills - Required  
  • Ability to learn, implement and train others - Required
  • Ability to work in a large, complex, dynamic organization where a high degree of ambiguity and change exists – Required
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees including senior leadership – Required
  • Strong problem solving and analysis skills - Required
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills - Required
  • Workday PSA experience – Preferred

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $88,400 - $150,700

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
