About the Director of Account Management role  

Material is looking for a Director of Account Management to join our team! In this role you will develop strong partnerships and growth with a portfolio of clients. You will be the clients’ primary contact and are responsible for day-to-day account operations. We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience delivering organic account growth and a natural ability to listen to opportunities and bring solutions that meet the business goals of our clients.

This role requires strong strategic thinking, obsessive organization, and strong communication skills. You must be able to have tough conversations, clearly set client expectations, and collaborate with an internal cross-functional team including strategy, creative, data analytics, experience design and technology. You must be able to keep sight of the big picture while focusing on the minutia, supporting and contributing to teams' success, managing timelines, and tracking project health.

As Director of Account Management, you will:

  • Be a strong relationship builder and trusted advisor to clients, as evidenced by your high-rate of client retention and ability to anticipate client needs
  • Identify organic growth opportunities and be the catalyst bringing these new opportunities to fruition
  • Drive net new revenue growth with clients you manage, through development of account plans, proposals, active participation in new business pitches, and tracking of nurture and new business activity
  • Lead client conversations and consistently manage client expectations, ensuring client satisfaction; solicit and act on client feedback
  • Create clear and compelling scopes of work. Be comfortable vetting and negotiating scopes, proposed budgets, and project plans internally and externally
  • Support project management team by collaborating on internal project briefs and kickoffs. Be an expert on client background, goals and objectives, and be able to provide clear direction to creative and strategy teams
  • Partner with internal delivery and project management teams to ensure all project objectives, requirements and deadlines are clear and met on time and on budget to ensure project profitability. Communicate with finance and leadership to mitigate issues
  • Monitor and manage multiple clients and high-volume projects with mastery and flexibility to meet changing needs
  • Travel to your client’s on-site offices as needed, for Executive Business Reviews, planning, workshops, project KO/deliverable meetings, etc. / Travel anticipated to be <20%

About You:

  • At least 10 years of agency account management experience in brand, digital marketing, strategy or innovation
  • Strong leader and communicator, capable of distilling complex information and comfortable creating presentations and participating in final deliverable readouts
  • Go-getter mindset, always seeking to generate strategic and practical solutions that push the value of our work; you aren’t afraid to hunt down answers, ask questions and find new paths forward
  • Excellent time management skills and proficiency with sales and project management tools including but not limited to: Microsoft Suite, Workday, Salesforce
  • Knowledge of customer engagement platforms, loyalty and CRM solutions is a plus!
  • A passion for what you do and a desire to continue to learn, grow and expand your skill set
  • Empathetic to your teams, clients, and partners bringing positive, respectful and solution-oriented energy to challenging situations

Pay Range: $110,000.00 - $140,000.00

The range shown represents a grouping of relevant ranges currently in use at Material. Actual range for this position may differ, depending on location and specific skillset required for the work itself.
